SINK OR BE SUNK!

During the War of 1812, England knew that seizing control of New Orleans and the Mississippi River would cripple the young United States.  As a large British fleet made its way across the Gulf waters on its way to New Orleans, it confronted brave Americans in two naval battles in Mississippi - one in the Bay of St. Louis and one at the Rigolets Pass at the mouth of Lake Borgne.

The Hancock County Historical Society is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization located in Hancock County, MS.  Headquartered in the historic Kate Lobrano House, it is the primary source of historical information and records for the county.
